About the farm

In the wild highlands of eastern Guatemala, the Sierra de las Minas biosphere reserve protects much of what remains of the country’s magical cloud forest. Here among the 885 species of native animals, including the legendary quetzal, the indigenous Q'eqchi' communities cultivate the ancient varietal of cacao that have grown in these forests for over 2,000 years.

About the Partnership

Our cooperating partner, DeLaSelva, helps indigenous Q'eqchi' farmers generate income while respecting their traditions and the richness of their beautiful land. By directly supporting the conservation efforts of the Sierra de las Minal National park, this rare cacao varietal remains protected and accessible.
