About the farm

Decades ago, a dangerous fungus threatened to destroy all cacao production in Ecuador. In response, this family farm planted orchards of a hybrid bean that combines the legacy and quality of the original varietals with stronger genetics more resistant to disease. It’s also one of the first certified organic farms of this varietal in Ecuador.

About the Partnership

Through marketing and networking support, we’ve aided La Sofia’s mission to prove their eco-friendly practices can be scaled and return high yields of organic cacao. This allows them to continue their ongoing research into environmentally responsible farming and develop new technologies that improve farm management.
