About the farm

Nestled in the lush and fertile Junín region of Peru, at elevations between 700 and 1200 meters above sea level, over 700 farmers cultivate the Pangoa beans. Their farms are biodiverse landscapes where cocoa grows alongside citrus, bananas, yuca, and shade tree.

About the Partnership

For nearly five decades, La Cooperativa Agraria Cafetalera Pangoa is a farmer-owned cooperative based around the town of Pangoa. In response to climate change, the cooperative has expanded from coffee to include cocoa production while maintaining its commitment to community solidarity and farmer well-being. Beyond equitable distribution of earnings, the cooperative invests in programs for youth engagement, women’s leadership development, and educational opportunities that strengthen the entire community.
